AN ATTACKING AVENUE

WHY has the left wing become
so prominent in recent years? In the 1932-33 season, one well. known outside-left scored thirty- three goals in forty-two League games. Many of the outstanding| League teams have given special attention to left-wing tactics, with the result that the tendency to shoot always from the centre-for- ward position is somewhat out of date.
Centre-forwards, of course, still dominate the records of champion niarksmen. But although the very Idea of scoring from the wing is comparatively new, wingers are getting their fair share of goals.
