Affected by the decline in price}} of native Chinese goods as well as the world-wide economic depression the commercial influence of Chin ese nationals in the Philippine Islands has dwindled considerably during recent years. Whereas for merly 90 per cent. of commercial enterprises in the Philippines were in the hands of the Chinese, now only 50 per cent. remains in their sphere of influence.
This is the impression brought back to China by Mr. Lui Li-pang Chairman of the Chinese Druggista Association in the Philippines, whe recently returned to China to peti tion the National Government to lodge a protest with the Philippines Government against the latter' action in prohibiting Chinese doc tors of the old school to practica|| among Chinese nationals there.
