DEVELOPMENTS IN SURGERY
Operating On Heart Patients To-day
BIG ADVANCES MADE
The great advances of surgery date from the comparatively recent time when the modern develop- ments of the "aseptic" method made it possible to open, regions of the body without the dreadful risks of blood poisoning as a matter of course. Abdominal surgery 'de veloped, aided in aome.ways by the catastrophes of war,
In the post-war period there has been an effect in many centres to attack diseases of the lungs by surgical means, and now there seems to be a possibility that, even heart disease opens up a field where the surgeon can give valuable help.
The latest development is to re- move the thyroid gland in coses of heard fallure where all other means have been without effect. This ap pears at first sight to be a menn- ingless and almost barbarous attack | by the surgeon upon a field where the physician alone has long reign-] el supreme.
Reports of work on these lines) have been coming from America for some time, and at certain cen-l tres in Britain investigation of the method has been proceeding.

Healthy Appetite
by taking
Sanatogen
JACK of appetite is mostly due to stomach trouble, which in turn is usually a question of "nerves." Nerve weakness prevents the proper functioning of the stomach and intestines and it is only by strengthening the weakened nerves that you can restore the proper functioning of the digestive organs and so, in a logical way, regain a healthy appetite.
Every particle of Sanatogent will actually help to restore lost nervous vitality, because Sanatogen pro vided the nerve cells, with phosphorus and albumin — the building materials of nervous energy.
"A noteworthy effect of Sanatogen is a better appetite which is gener- ally perceived within three or four days after beginning this nerve- food, writes a London physician.
Start a course of this famous
nerve-food to day. Very soon your complaints will vanish, your appetite will return and, thanks to the all-round strengthening influence of Sanatogen, you will feel and look a healthier and happier being
