entry for the Colony
T championship, the draw for
which was published earlier this weck, is, numerically, extremely disappointing.
It is hard to say why this should be, but here is the viewpoint of one "1 single figure handicap player. have no chance of winning and why should I forego a pleasant morning single and a sociable afternoon four- ball to play 36-holes with, possibly, a player whom I have never. met and whose Interests are at entire! variance with mine?".
King's Parade (Mr. Proulx) won the Bonham Handicap over 14 miles last Saturday.
May be some of us think this an EPIC STRUGGLE
expression of relish thought, but I
am inclined rather to attribute it to
a mind which realises that the real golfers in the Club are strictly
limited in number and that even the glorious uncertainty of the game does not compass the possibility of a singlo figure handicap man snatch- ing a surprise win.

A. V. Gozano, the captain, how- ever, is still unable to take his place in the team through an ankle injury, but hopes of seeing him in action) within the near future are enter- tained.
}
Beltrao's return, has enabled the forward line to be streng thened by "Bertie" Gosano's inclusion at inside-right.
His wide experience in the game will mean much to the young Recreio forwards, who have plenty of speed, but lack the science of the
HARBOUR SWIM game. Beltrao will be in his usual

East Lance, so far as the

still in that unenviable position of being between the devil and the deep blue sen.
They have unfortunately lost temporarily, the services of Wood and Salmon as a result of injuries, and, having to fill the vacancies left by these two players only makes the task of team building more difficult. Elliott will take the place of Woods. Lawton will go to centre-forward and Smith will take Lawton's place at centre-half. On
