Lau started off strongly from the start, and took the lead after 50 yards. and, although closely challenged by Lawrence over the last 25 yards, maintained his alen- der advantage to the finish.
He bettered the 14-day-ol re- cord of Roza-Pereira, as did ....W- rence, who was only a fifth of a second behind.
