DAYTONA THRILLS AHEAD

A new speed creation, in which an attempt may be made on the Daytona Beach sands in 1935 to break the 272 m.p.h.. automobile speed record, is being planned by J. M. White, wealthy Philadelphia sportsman.

White visited the natural track recently to enlist the aid of the elty officials of Daytona Beach in obtaining from the United States government two obsolete aviation motors with which to power the new "Triplex."

Mayor Armstrong said efforts to borrow the needed motors are to be made through Senatora Park Trammel and Duncan Y. Fletcher. Record Attempt

White hopes to break the 272 m.ph. mark set here in 1933 dur- jing the speed trials by. Sir Malcolm Campbell, the British ace, Sir Malcolm will be invited to this August or summer, possibly in September, to try for a new record with "revamped" Bluebird.

At present, the British world re- cord-holder was recently reported to be looking for a suitable auto- speed track.

in. The frame and other tegral parts of the new machine are virtually ready for the motors, having been under construction for a yent. Obtaining the government mo- tors, now at a navel base in Vir- ginia, is a hard proposition,
