The biggest airliner ever built in the United States was recently completely at Bridgeport, Conn. and to now ready for its initial tests. The big ship, designed by Igor Sikorsky on specifications laid down by Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh, has accommodation for 82 passengera, a crew of Ave and 1,000 pounds of mail. With a full load. her four motors, developing 8,000 horsepower, will give the big ship a cruising speed of 150 miles an hour and a non-stop range of 1,200 miles. With the mail load alone, the ship could ay between 2,500 and 8,000 miles without a stop. Although intended for Pan-American Airways' South American service, ob servers believe it possible that the S-42 and five sister ships now under construction may ultimately go into regular trans-Atlantic service.
