This new method is most тена- suring. The hair is done up in curlers that are self-contained, the soljert can walk about freely the whole time. It is impossible for certain the heat to get beyond a specified temperature, the whole time. It is impossible for the heat

to get beyond a certain temperature, the whole performance is immeasurably simplified.
The hair is first damped and wound on metal curlers. These are then encased in long paper cylin ders, and these cylinders carry the| secret of the whole method. Each eurler generates pure filtered steam hy a highly scientific process, which is quite tam technical to describe- even if I could understand it my- self.
The cassette is composed of an outer envelope which is perforated į to allow the steam to escape, and is; made of tinfoil and waterproof!

this method.
TWEEDS UNIMPORTANT
Cottons and Knens refuse to be
left out of this vogue for surface interest in fabrics. Woolly [weaves in cottona have the decid- ed advantage of making the cot- ton uncrushable.. The woollen character of these cottons adds to their resiliency. They resist way- ward breezes more successfully than ordinary cottons, but do not have the actual warmth of wool.
Tweedy type cottons in woolly weaves are particularly smart in [homespun effects, in two tone com- binations or multi-colours. They make perfect little jackets, being wearable all spring and summer Jong.
Ever Versatile.
Cuttons are nothing if not veraa- tile. They can be country-tweedy for quite elegant. Shirtings, broad-cloth and even seersuckers have taken to satin strips. There is also such a thing as an all cot- ton satin that is quite heavy and very, very new.
Decorated cottons have big formal fashion possibilities. They make very "different" looking evening gowns and formal after- noon dresses. There are embroider- ed sheer cottons, and fagotted or drawn-thread cottons that look al most hand worked.. Corded cot?? Lons are crisp and important, since the cording gives a ribbed effect.
Fancy Linens.
Novelty linens offer a type for every occasion, and will grow in importance as summer approaches. It's all in the weave, which is the theme song for spring fabrica.
Porous weave linens are either

The tendency is toward the Orient, both in line and colour and colour combinations-beautiful in richness and blendency.
One ex- tremely practical note about such styles as the kimono-cut sleeves, slit- tailed coats and Japanese lines in general, is that they can be so easily packed, pressed and carted about in Isuitcase or trunk,

Fish-fin Trend'
The fish-fin trend, while excellent for exotic outfits, wearable only a few times, will be followed by those, who erave conspicuousness, but will
be modified into a softer line with more grace and comfort to it. We called these "wings" last time, but they have dropped further down! this time and so go into the "n" class. A few still remain at the shoulders, particularly when using fur in the Schiaparelli manner, and even with the Heirn touch, but on the whole the hips take the fish-rud-! ders.
