“Sydney, N.S.W. -Australia's oldest church now standing, St Enoch's, at Eden- zer, near Windsor, recently cele bruted its 125th Anniversary. It was also the first Presbyterian Church to be built in Australia:
In 1802, among other pioneers arriving by the sailing vessel! Coromandel, were, 10 men who settled at. Ebenezer, and who in 1806 decided on the building of a church. They were Dr. Thomas Arundel, Paul Bushell, Owen Cavanagh, James Davidson, Cap-1 tain J. Grono; George Hall, An- drew Johnston, William Stubbs, John Turnbull, and James Kein, the latter being an elder of the Presbyterian Church and the!! first preacher. The church was consecrated in 1809.
Built from quarried blocks of stone, obtained from its own grounds, the church presents no particular architectural features save solidity. The measure- nents decided upon were 50 by 20 feet, and payment for the materials used was to be made in kind-wheat, pigs, and pork at the rates then existing.
