Your Partner's Trick

To trump & partner's trick does not suggest itself at first blush as a profitable play in defending a sult declaration, nor must I by this title be taken as recommending the play

as a general.rule
It would without doubt prove ex- pensive and a source of some irrita- tion to the partner if made a habit of Nevertheless there are occasions when it may be the only means of saving the game or setting the con- tract. When a winning card, led by the partner will be trumped for certain by the declarer It is always worth while for third hand 'to ruff, although knowing he will be over- ruffed 'provided third hand's trumps| are worthless. The object being, of course, to make a trump good in the partner's hand. In many cases this įpurpose cannot be achieved, but the point is that nothing can be lost and something may be gained.
