SATISFACTORY FIGURES.

: It is estimated that on February 19 there were ap- proximately 9,941.000 insur ed persons between the ages of 16 and 64 in the employ- ployment in Great Britain.

This was 67,000 more than a month before, and 625.500 more than a year before.

The industries showing the great- est Improvement during the past month were building and public works contrasting. tailoring, 'boot and ahoe manufacture, and pottery manufacture.

There was also some improvement in the iron and steel, the engineering and the notor vehicle Industries, } and in the shipping service.

At February 19, the numbers of unemployed persons on the regis ter of the employment exchanges : In Great Britain were 1.881,532 wholly unemployed. 340.897 tem- porarily stopped, and 95,480 normally la casual employment.

The total was 71,159 less than the;

number on the registers at January 22 and 638,729 less than a year bef fore.

The total on February 19, 1934, comprised 1,883,782 men, 58,368 boya, 328,146 women, and 47.613 girls British Wireless Service.
