Nearly all the yachts came back inside the Ninepins. U & I was nearly on top of them in the dark- ners and had to jibe hurriedly to come inside, I hear. On the other! hand the yawl Norseman (one of the laggards) finding the wind and sea rather heavy, reduced sail to forestaysall and mainsail and kept the wind about two points abaft the beam when she went along very dry and comfortable, still making 6 knots.
