BIAS BAY PIRATES

AGAIN ACTIVE

Known Leader Caught At Shaukiwan.

GAOLED FOR ONE YEAR AS

RETURNED BANISHEE

Gangs from Bias Bay, the well-known pirate stronghold, are again reported to be active, with the approach of the Chinese New Year, and the arrest of an ex- banishee and well-known pirate) at Shaukiwan two days ago has caused the Police to keep a very close look-out for other members of the gang.

Information was recently re- ceived of the departure from Bias Bay of several pirate gangs heading for Canton and Macao, with the obvious intention of raid- ing ships visiting Hong Kong and the southern coast ports.

The present state of affairs in Fukien has resulted in the lower part of the Province being de nuded of troops, one check on the activities of the pirates thus be ing removed.

The informacion received, how- ever, is not considered serious enough to warrant more than the issue of

a general warning to ships visiting the Colony.

Known Pirate Arrested

The receipt of the information was followed by the smart ur- rest at Shaukiwan of an ex- banisher named Wong Tin,
