A cablegram has been sent to the wife of a small farmer, In County Clare, Ireland, that she would in all probability take the whole estate. of Edward Martin Burke. amounting to about £50,000 now in he hands of the Public Trustee at Sydney.
Burke was a former policeman and post-office official, who died in testate at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in 1923, and was on the point of being buried as a pauper when it was accidentally discover- jed that he was a rich man.
The Acting Master in Equity has practically concluded the inquiry to determine the next-of-kin, re- mitted to him by Mr. Justice Long Innes, to whom certain questions relating to distribution of the in- testacy had been submitted some time ago. Since then 700 claims to share in the estate had been re- ceived, from persons in Ireland, America, Australia, and other parts of the world. All were rejected, after prolonged inquiry, except
one.
