Another step is marked in the resuscitating of Chinese rail- ways, by the shipping of a large consignment. of freight cars built by Messrs. Hurst Nelson and Co., of Motherwell, Glasgow.
Of those already on the way to China, 50 wagons are for the Tientsin-Pukow railway and 40 for the Canton-Hankow. These are of the high-sided open type of All-steel construction, each to carry: 40,000 kilos.
Besides these, 10 all-steel fat wagons, of a' capacity of 15,000 kilos, have been shipped for the new Hangchow-Klangshan rail-
way.
For the latter line Messra. Hurst. Nelson - are also building [24: passenger car under-frames which will be ready to send out soon. These are equipped with all the latest devices and steam- heating apparatus. The bodies of the cars will be built in China but bellows (vestibules for com- munication between one car and the next) are being supplied.
