ALLEGED SPIES IN

PARIS ROUND-UP

Arrested Americans Protest Innocence.

DECLARE PLOT FRAMED

BY FRENCH POLICE

Paris.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Switz, American eltizens who were arrest-) ed by the French police on charge of espionage, with night other persons, in a big round up were examined by the magistrate.

They professed their entire in- nocence of the charges and déclar-j ed that they were the victims of a police frame-up. They were taken into custody, presumably because of their too close association with persons who were said to be known by the police to be actively engaged in explonage.

The police, upon making the ar rests, stated that they had carried out the biggest anti-spy coup since. the outbreak of the World War, and subsequently stated that the raml-1 acations of the threads of espion- age pointed back to Berlin.
