It was in 1930 that we first heard: about plastic valuation of cards, when the subject was lightly dealt with by Culbertson in his "Blue Book." Since then it has been fur- ther developed by him, and has been dealt with extensively in his "Blue Book" of 1939. Culbertson has put in concrete form what actually takes place in a master bridge player's mind: his analysis of the bidding and all the mental deductions and eliminations which take place,

By simple. partner or opponents. deductions and eliminations, the "marking" (or placig) of cards' takes place, and by the time the [final bid is reached a mental picture has been formed of the 20 cards in the two hands.
