Mr. William Laurie Cowling, who was put ashore from the British India steamer Somali last Tuesday, and sent to the Kowloon Hospital

death has come as a great shock to his shipmates, for his condition was not considered specially serious when he went to hospital.

Cowling who was only 18 was making his first trip to the East in the Somali, having previously been an apprentice in the Hain line. He leaves a father and mother in Glamorgan, Wales, for whom much sympathy will be felt.
