Burmeister And Wain Perfect New Engine.

Burmeister and Wain, Ltd., famous for their diesel engines, are now experimenting with a new type of steamship engine.

"A great amout of secrecy has surrounded the B. and W. experi- mentat'. Improving steamship! technique, says the "Scandinavian Shipping Gazette," but it is known that these improvements have been embodied in the construction of the steamer Tirlbirka and Indiga, the two ships recently delivered to Soviet Russia from the famous Copenhagen yard.

The improvements will also be supplied to another new ship for Soviet Russia, in which will be fit- ted a double compound 2,450 h.p. engine with two high-pressure and two low-pressure cylinders. The coal consumption, is brought down to a minimum, it is reported, in this} B. and W. innovation.”.
