PRACTICABILITY AND CHIC

Gown With Removable Jackets.

ATTRACTIVE SPORTS WEAR

P

A clever idea of Mr. Patou is the evening gown with two removable jackets. One of these costumes has a frock of Alice-blue crepe, very plain and simple with the line of decolletage rounded at the front and cut in a V at the back, the latter edged with small velvet roses of a darker shade of blue, which extend over the front of the shoulders. Over this is worn a short, loose jac-) ket with long sleeves which are tight below the elbow and are fin ished about the wrists with a bandi of the roses. Over this again is a longer jacket of the darker blue velvet with a rather loose elbow sleeve and a band of the velvet roses around the neck. This makes ja very practical costume

for any jevening function and with the Highter jacket it may serve quite as well for the afternoon.

A frock of black! net has a double belt of two bands, of overlapping sequins, one in lac- quer red and the other in jet which tle at the side, the ends reaching nearly to the edge of the skirt,

Mme. Schiaparelli's collection is also simple and smart. Heavy hand- knitted cardigans or Eton jackets in honeycomb, or as the French call' jít, "blistered" pattern, are shown with plain woollen sports frocks, jand blouses of the same heavy tri- cot dre used with jackets and skirts Short scarves of this game heavy knitted wool are shown with INVENTION OF BEAUTY. both frocks and coats.
