359. Revenue collected by the Department totalled $48,163,000, the principal items being premia from sales of Crown land: $18,289,000; fees for temporary occupation of similar land: $2,468,000; sale of water: $16,275,000; sale of crushed stone: $4,152,000, and other receipts: $6,979,000.

Canteens

STAFF WELFARE

360. A new and more commodious canteen was established on the seventh floor of the new west wing of the Central Government Offices in lieu of the canteen in the east wing.

Sports and Recreations, etc.

361. The Public Works Department Recreation Club which was active prior to December, 1941, but ceased to function after the re-occupation of the Colony in 1945, was, following several meetings of interested members, reformed in December, 1959. An application was made to Government for a piece of ground for use as a sports field but this did not prove successful.

362. Competition for the 'Littlejohn' and 'Shewan' golf cups was keen and these trophies were gained by Mr. E. MOTH of the Architectural Office and Mr. J. LYONS of the Crown Lands & Surveys Office respectively.

363. Messrs. E. LONSDALE and J. O'CONNOR won the Forbes cup for lawn bowls.

364. The 'C' team of the Electrical and Mechanical Office, holders of the 'Littlejohn' cup for table tennis once again showed their superiority by beating Waterworks Office in the final and retained the challenge cup.

365. The Caroline Hill football team (Electrical and Mechanical Office) won the Second Division championship in the Hong Kong Football Association League with an outstanding record of only one defeat in 25 games. The same team reached the final of the Junior Challenge Shield and finished runners up losing to Kowloon Motor Bus by a narrow margin of 1 to 3.

366. The Electrical and Mechanical, Development and Crown Lands and Surveys Offices each entered a team in the 7 a side mini-soccer games sponsored by the Hong Kong Chinese Civil Servants' Association.
