Valuation and Resumption

153. Valuations were made for the following purposes:

Resumptions under the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance (Cap. 124) Surrenders for street and other improvements;

Renewal of Crown Leases;

Sale and purchase of land and buildings by Government;

Town Planning;

Extensions to existing lots;

Removal of restrictive covenants, etc.

154. In addition, all hereditaments falling to be assessed for Estate Duty purposes amounting in all to $35,152,114.93 were valued.

155. Work continued in the negotiation of surrenders for such purposes as road improvements, implementation of planning layouts, etc. The case for the Crown was presented before three Arbitration Boards formed to determine compensation payable under the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance, and preparatory work has been done for Boards which may be convened for other gazetted resumptions.

PLANNING

156. The urban area is divided into 37 planning districts. Outline development plans are in various stages of preparation for 33 of these and for 12 districts in the New Territories. In addition, layout plans are in preparation or have been completed for various sub-divisions of planning districts. An up-to-date schedule of all outline development and layout plans including those approved under the Town Planning Ordinance, those approved departmentally and those in draft is circulated to all departments and public utility companies twice a year.
