91. Staged alterations are in progress at the Printing Department. 92. Two new District Courts were completed by adaptations within the Supreme Court Building.

Post Offices

93. At Sheung Shui a small post office was completed providing a public hall, sorting room, post office boxes, and offices at ground floor level, and a three-roomed flat and departmental barrack quarters above.

94. Post office fittings in rented accommodation were completed at Mong Kok and Kowloon City, and a sketch for similar facilities at Aberdeen has been prepared.

95. Preliminary investigations have started for a new Kowloon Central Post Office incorporating Government branch offices.

Quarters

96. A three-storey building was completed in the grounds of Government House to reprovide garage accommodation with domestic staff quarters above.

97. Work on the construction of 60 flats for civil servants on the Buxey Lodge site made slow progress on account of a landslip caused by heavy rains in June and the presence of large boulders in the subsoil which retarded the construction of the foundations.

98. Sketch plans were approved and a start made on a large scheme of 80 non-departmental quarters at the Mount Nicholson bungalows site. These have been planned in two 8-storey buildings and two 13-storey buildings. Eight of the existing bungalows are to be retained, and the addition to each of a store-room and servants' accommodation has been planned.

Resettlement of Shek Pik Village

99. The construction of the Shek Pik Reservoir on Lantao Island has necessitated the reprovisioning of Shek Pik Village which will have to be demolished before the completion of the reservoir. The villagers have accepted alternative accommodation at Tsuen Wan, which is to be made available in six blocks of 5-storey tenement buildings and will provide 48 shops and 192 self-contained tenements. A temple, a village meeting room and a small village school will be provided.
