(5) Lo Fu Ngam-Stage III (Formerly Stages III & IV)

(6) Tai Wo Hau-Stage II

(7) Tin Wan (Aberdeen)

(8) Yau Tong Bay

(9) Kai Tak-2 flatted factories

(10) Cheung Sha Wan-No. 4 flatted factory.

78. A total of 32 domestic blocks were completed providing approximately 2,900,000 square feet of covered space. Two flatted factory blocks were completed providing a total of some 240,000 square feet of covered space.

Resettlement Department Staff Quarters

79. Construction commenced on a block of quarters at Li Cheng Uk. Preliminary investigations and sketch schemes are in hand for Resettlement Staff Quarters in the following locations:

(1) Chai Wan

(2) Tai Wo Hau (3) Wong Tai Sin

(4) Kwun Tong.

LOW-COST HOUSING

80. On the 20th October, 1959, Government announced its decision to take steps to provide housing, at very low rentals, for people in the lower income groups, i.e. families earning less than $300 p.m., who are not squatters.

81. Sketch plans have been completed and working drawings commenced. The plans provide for single room domestic units each with a private balcony which can be used as a utility area. Lavatory and cooking facilities will be on a community basis.

82. Sites for the construction of these buildings are available in Kowloon; surveys are in hand and preliminary layouts for two estates have been prepared.
