NAVY SCORE FIRST. The Navy started off well by tak- ing play into the Probables' half where Shirras fed the attack. | Strange cleared well on more than one occasion, but he received little support from his collegue Black-won by an innings. bourne.

After ten minutes play the Navy

opened the scoring through Rawson who tapped the ball past Rodger from a grounder from the

right wing.

Midfield play was prominent for a short period after which the Probables attacked, Gosano inter-: cepting a clearance with his head; to give a fine opening from which he made no mistake.

Soon after the start of the second half the Navy carried play into the Probables half where Rawson, Usher and Fisher all missed-with well timed drives.

The Probables went further ahead

when after a good move- ment on the left wing, Gosano tapped the ball easily past Botterill to take the lead.

The Navy led by Shirras and his halves strove hard to get level, but the state of the ground in front of the Probable's goal was against them, the ball refusing to rise after striking the ground in front of the goal.

Just before the end, the Pro. bables went further ahead when Pardoe scored from forty yards, taking the ball from a corner kick! to beat Botterill, who was unsight- cd.

Sgt. Caswell refereed and lied up the following teamer---
