All danger of a typhoon, of severe intensity, striking the Colony passed on September 17, but throughout the "day heavy squalls and strong easterly gales were experi- enced. No material damage was suffered by the Colony, with the exception of one fatality-a Chinese coolie being killed when a matshed was blown down. The typhoon passed 70 miles south of Gap Rock between 6 and 7 a.m. The Government rescue Lug Kau Sing, the Kowloon. Mrs. P. B. Caruana, the wife of Lieutenant-Comman- der P. B. Caruana, attached to the Naval Command, Hong. Kong, was the victim of a daring highway robbery per- peiraled in broad daylight in Bowen Road, on the after- noon of September 14. The distribution of prizes of the Sacred Heart College took place in open air on the night of September 19.
