CONFLICTING REPORTS.
Concludes Conference With Marshal Chiang,
"New-danger of Sino-Japanese war" is the banner heading on the front page of the Daily Express, featuring a telegram from its Mukden correspondent reporting that Manchukuo has orkai, ganised a committee headed by the Foreign Minis- ter to negotiate immediately for a treaty for a de- fensive alliance with Japan.
The Daily Express declares that this is “ominous," and the development is likely to lead to renewed Sino-Japanese hostilities. The treaty, if carried out, will give Japan full military control of Manchuria. A large scale conflict appears to be inevitable.
