Although Mr. M. K. Lo's motion for reforms in the local: system of refuse removal, suggesting the trial of a new type of garbage truck which would make impossible the shed- ding of refuse, was termed by Mr. G. R. Sayer, Head of the Sanitary Department "an absolute libel on our service," it was nevertheless passed by a vote of five to three at a meet- ing of the Sanitary Board held on July, 19. The meeting, which was characterised by sharp exchanges between Mr. Lo and Mr. Sayer (Chairman), is fully reported in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL.
