The race was conducted under handicap conditions, and some of the entrants achieved a much higher average speed, among them being the Comper-Swift en- tered by the Prince of Wales, which finished second. It's aver- age sped was 155.75 m.p.h.
The best time was returned by a scratch machine, an Avro-Mail, acroplane, flown by H. Brown. Its average speed was 167 m.p.h. but it was the last to reach the finishing post.
