A WHOLE WEEK'S NEWSPAPERS IN ONE.

An appalling tragedy occurred on the Castle Peak Road on the morning of July 6, at the 121⁄2 mile stone, when a heavily laden motor lorry collided with a motor bus, killing two Chinese men, and injuring another seriously. The bus was badly damaged at the side of the driver's seat but the lorry was not damaged to any extent. The accident took place near the village of Tai Lam Chung. The motor lorry, laden with vegetables, was coming towards Kowloon, while the bus was proceeding in the direction of Un Kong. A .full story is published in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL.

Mr. N. V. A. Croucher's sharp criticism at the meeting of the Douglas Steamship Company, Ltd. (held on June 29) over the allocation of $30,000 for leave pay and pension ·· reserve, which he considered was out of all proportion to the Company's profit, received reproof from the China Coast Officers' Guild and the Marine Engineers' Guild of China in an open letter from Capt. A European unemployed seaman, whose passport re- vealed the name of Thomas A. Henry, of Glasgow, was drowned whilst swimming at Lai Chi Kok on July 2. He left his clothes in the By-the-Sea Cafe, on the shore, and failed to return. His body, was recovered the next day under a rock, about 50 yards distant from the Standard Oil Installation, The tragedy is reported in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL.
