Dr. Cuthbert Christy. The Belgian Embassy has recoly. ed news of the death, on May 29, of Dr. Cuthbert Christy, the naturalisti explorer and expert in tropical diseases, at the age of 68 years. At the time of his death; he was in the Congo conducting some scientific In- vestigations for the Belgian Govern. mest.
The late Dr. Christy had been chairman of the International Com- mission to inquire into the alleged existence of slavery in Liberia.
He was the son of Robert: Christy, of Chelmsford, and was. educated at Scarborough and the University of Edinburgh, where hel was Mackenzie burkar in anatomy. He gratuated M.B., C.M. In 1992- 14th July95 he travelled extensively in South [
America and the West Indies. From 1898 to 1900 he was senior 6th July medical officer of the 2nd Battalion, West African Field Force, in Northern Negleria.
