Sir Henry Pollock's motion with regard to the necessity of immediately securing the Home Authorities* sanction to the second part of the Shing Mun scheme was put to the vote at to-day's meeting of the Legislative Coun- eil and carried unani- mously. The Official members of the Council abstained from voting.

RAIN ALLOWS TEAM ONLY ONE DAY'S PRACTICE
(Special from Our Own Staff Correspondent.)
Shanghai, To-day. The Hong Kong Interport Cricket team has met with misfortune, and the out- fook for the match is pessimistic. Three of the team, the skipper, Capt. E. J. R. Mitchell, A. R. Minu, and D. McLellan, 12th man, are down with influenza. Mitchell is confined to his bed, but the other two were affected only last night and it is hoped that they will recover shortly.

Colony's representatives, it has been pos- sible to obtain very little practice. It has been raining steadily, and a heavy down- pour on Tuesday night spoilt yesterday's practice, but some play was enjoyed at the nets on concrete matting.
On the social side the team have been splendidly ntertained and the L.B.C. dance was a great success. Capt. Mitchell was an absentee on account of his attack of influenza.
Shanghai cricketers are very con- fident of success in the Interport, and the local team is particularly anxious to win this encounter and thus even the series. Hong Kong at present leads by 15 matches to 14.
