Mr. Tsuyoshi Inukai, the aged Prime Minister of Japan, who was shot by a party of 18 young naval and military officers who broke into his re- sidence on Sunday evening, has died of his wounds. The Emperor has appointed Mr. Takahashi, the Finance Minister, to be Acting Premier, but it is reported that the Cabinet will continue in office for the time being. An emergency meeting of the Cabinet was held last night.

"A mad Russian bluebeard," is the title given to Dr. Gougoulof, President Doumer's assassin, who had four wives according to in- vestigations made in Prague.
His first wife, Marle Pororiev, was an 18-year-old Russian whom Gougouloff married in 1920. His second was a Prague hairdresser's daughter, Emilie Nehasil, whom he married in 1922 before. his previous marriage was dissolved.
