A WHOLE WEEK'S NEWSPAPERS IN ONE.

In thick fog, on Saturday afternoon (March 12) off Namtao Island, a collision, which proved to be of a very serious nature, occurred between the s.s. Venezia and the 9.5. Sui Tai, which were travelling in opposing directions, the former on her way to Macao and the latter to Hong Kong. The Venezia carried a large number of race-goers, travelling. to Macao for the week-end. Casualties were, happily, very few. there being four Chinese in all. A full account of the mishap is chronicled in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL.

That net earnings were $179,392 less than in the pre- vious year, was reported by the Hon. Mr. J. J. Paterson who presided at the 45th ordinary annual general meeting of the Hong Kong and Kowloon Wharf and Godown Co., Ltd. The decrease in revenue is attributed in part to the political differences in the North and the boycott of Japanese goods. The meeting is reported in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL.

On account of adverse conditions during 1931, parti cularly the decline in the value of the dollar, the Directors of the Hong Kong, Canton & Macao Steamboat Co., Ltd., have found it not possible to declare a dividend. This was announced to shareholders at the annual meeting of the Company, which is reported in the OVERLAND CHINA MAIL.
