When the White Star liner Laurentic berthed at Liverpool, re- cently it was revealed that a mem- ber of her crew, a seaman named Robert Jones, had fallen overboard. in mid-Atlantic, and was rescued in seventeen.minutes.
As soon as the cry of "Man over. board!" was raised a lifebelt was flung to him, and the 19,000-ton liner was at once brought round and hove to. A boat was then sont off to rescue the man, who, although still clutching the life-belt, was Опсе half-frozen by the icy water.
