A Commemoration Service was held in St. John's Cathedral. at 9.45 this morning, at which H.E. the Governor and Lady Peel at tended. A representative clergy was present also,
The service was conducted by the Dean (the Very Rev. Alfred Swann), the prayers-were-read by the Rev. E. G. Powell, whilst the Bishop of Victoria (the Rt. Rev. C. R. Duppuy, D.D.) pro nounced the dedication and the blessing,
The official peace version of (the National Anthem was sung, after which the choir and clergy proceeded by way of the weat door to the Cathedral Memorial Cross, where a wreath was laid.
We have no real peace as yet. In spite of the limitations of armaments in the last ten years, the Great Powers are still spending upon them more than in 1918 when the. struggle for military supremacy was at its height.
