Valuation and Resumption
164. Valuations totalling $71,238,450 were made during the financial year, including 284 valuations for the Estate Duty Commissioner. In addition, advice and valuations were given to other Government Departments.
165. The work done included valuations for resumptions, surrenders, renewal of Crown Leases, exchanges of land in lieu of compensation premia for removal of restrictive covenants, purchase and sale of buildings by Government, estate duty valuations, negotiations of free surrenders for road widening and other town planning purposes.
166. The case for the Crown was presented before one Arbitration Board under the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance (Cap.124) to consider compensation in respect of 59 Survey District Lots resumed in Kowloon Tong Valley.
167. In addition, Resumption Schedules were commenced for the redevelopment of the Survey Districts. A completed schedule is in hand, and an Arbitration Board is awaited, in respect of the land resumed under the Emergency Regulations at Shek Kip Mei and Pak Tin Villages as a result of the fire in that area in December, 1953.
168. The Award of the Arbitration Board appointed in respect of the Resumption of 118 lots at Tung Tau Village was made during the year, and arrangements completed for the payment of the compensation.
Planning
169. The preparation of outline development plans for the 32 planning districts into which the Urban area has been divided proceeded during the year. Draft plans in respect of 10 districts were prepared and are now under consideration. Surveys were carried out in 15 districts.
