following scales and vertical intervals: 65 acres at 1/600 and 10 ft. V.I., 652 acres at 1/1200 and 25 ft. V.I., 386 acres at 1/2400 and 25 ft. V.I.
Although no systematic attempt has yet been made to re-fix destroyed Bench Marks, 3 miles of levelling was run to check and re-fix 2 Bench Marks which had been reported as being displaced. A further 2 miles of ordinary levelling was run for general purposes.
The annual computation of mean sea level was made and recorded as 4.00 feet above Principal Datum, Hong Kong.
162. Miscellaneous. The following miscellaneous work was carried out:
(a) For road widening and rebuilding schemes 15,340 feet of road alignment was set out.
(b) 6,990 feet of Building lines for 34 lots were checked.
(c) Surveys covering a total of 59 acres were made for 19 Police Cases. To give evidence in connexion with such surveys, surveyors attended court on 32 occasions.
(d) 21 special surveys were made for various purposes (e.g. Calibration of Victoria Peak R.D.F. Station for the Civil Aviation Department, provision of heights above mean sea level of various points at Royal Observatory outstations at Waglan and Cheung Chau, etc., etc.).
163. C.D. & W. Scheme. The Colonial Development and Welfare Scheme survey party which was attached to this office at the end of last year for the purpose of making a large scale survey of Sai Kung, completed the work in October and ceased to be attached to this office.
