Shek Kip Mei fire victims. A new plan of Victoria Central District, scale 100' to 1″, showing the Reclamation Scheme, was prepared, and a drawing, in full colours, of the Colony Crest was made.
A large number of drawings and prints of Traffic Signs was also prepared for the Legal Department. Record photographs were taken of the Coronation Decorations throughout the Colony, and of the Illuminated Address (English and Chinese) which was sent to H.M. the Queen.
Survey
157. Triangulation. A systematic inspection of the major triangulation stations was begun during the year. 26 stations were visited, 7 stations, found damaged, were repaired, and one station which had been totally destroyed was re-established. Of the existing minor stations, 6 were inspected and 15 new minor stations were established. A reconnaissance for the breakdown of the main triangulation system in the New Territories was commenced towards the end of year. 33 new stations were selected and 5 pillars erected.
158. Control Traverses. About 2 miles of minor traverse was run to provide permanent local control in the area of Sai Kung.
159. Revenue Surveys. Surveys were made for lease plans for 139 lots covering 74 acres, and for surrender plans for portions of 61 lots. 123 lots covering an area of 72 acres were set out and 376 Boundary Stones were placed to demarcate 74 lots.
160. Revision. 622 acres at 1/600 scale and 367 acres at 1/1200 scale were surveyed involving 40 miles of detail traverse. 20 survey sheets at 1/600 scale and 10 survey sheets at 1/1200 scale were opened. 2 sheets at 1/600 scale and 4 sheets at 1/1200 scale were completed.
161. Contour Surveys and Levelling. Contour surveys throughout the Colony were made for planning purposes at the
