A FORTUNE-TELLER IN EVERY TEASHOP.

Teacup Craze Sweeps the World.

AMUSES MELBOURNE.

London, Aug. 20. There is a new way in which women make friends when introduced.

"My dear, you must come and share my life!"

"I should love to. What about Wednesday at four o'clock?"

That, at any rate, is what is happening in Melbourne.'

Nearly every teashop there employs a staff of expert teacup readers to tell the fortunes of customers.

You asked the waitress for China tea, pastries and a medium, please!

The craze for, teacup reading,'| or the art of fortune-telling from tea-leaves, has taken Mel- bourne by storm.

It has spread all over Austra- lia, and is now sweeping the North American continent.

Women flock to the cafes for a cup of tea and a neat descrip- tion of the dark man who is al- most certain to be lurking in the The teacup fortune- dregs. tellers have doubled the business of nearly every tea house in Mel-

bourne.

Hollywood Began It.

The craze is said to have start- ed in Hollywood. Many teacup- renders have come all the way from the States to supply the de- mand in Australian towns.

Melbourne women are having their fortunes told two or three days a week every time they visit a cafe, in fact.. An Eng- lishwoman just home again ex- plained it like this:-
