RECRUITS FOR THE
NAVY.
The Duke of York at
Greenwich.
The Duke and Duchess of York attended the prize distribution at the Royal Hospital School, Green- wich, the Duke to make the annual Inspection of the school and the Duchess to give away the prizes. The Duchess also handed into the keeping of No. 8 Company the King's Banner, which goes cach year to the company with the best record in school and aport. The Banner Company, as It is called,

CHINA MAIL.
The water-ahlps come from, the Bay of Biscay, where they draw up supplies from the ocean, midway between Bordeaux and Ushant.
Experiments have proved that the sen there has peculiar qualities and contains an unusual amount of salt, particularly suited to the Zoo aquarium.
The special sea-carrying tanks are scaled as soon as they are ded until and are not opened again they reach the Zoo laboratories, when they are transferred to the huge
reservoirs where 120,000 gallons are constantly stored. Not until several wooks have elapsed and it has been allowed to "settle," is the water tested and passed for use in the aquarium.
As many as 700 tons of 'sca-water are needed to fill the tanks of the new aquarium recently opened. Into the special sea-water are put Epsom salts and other chemicals. The Hawksbill turtle presented by the Prince of Wales spends its life in this mixture, and seems to like It.
