Mr. William John Stephenson, 59, of South Shields, chief en- gineer of the Middlesbrough steamer Kingswood, has, accord- ing to news received by his re- latives, been, shot dead by a Russian sentry.

Mr. Stephenson has been buried at Leningrad. He leaves a widow and two sons.
