BANKRUPT CLERK AND
HIS DEBTS
LIVING IN COMFORT
HEAD I WIN, TAIL YOU LOSE POLICY.
ACCOMMODATING
נו
BROKERS
Before the Chief Justice (Sir Joseph Kemp, K.C.), in the Bankruptcy Court this morning, Mr. E. L. Agassiz, Official Receiver, made an application that, after setting aside the sum of $350 per month, the balance of the salary of Chan Shiu-tsun (bankrupt), Chief Chinese clerk-in-the-Marine Insurance Department of the China Underwriters, Ltd., be paid to the Official Receiver until 20 per cent. had been paid to the creditors,
In making his application, Mr. Agassiz said that the debtor was playing the game of "head I win, täll you lose." There was one redeeming feature, however. His creditors, who were brokers, were aware of the debtor's financial position as a salaried man and had allowed him to gamble and given him credit. But; that did not let the debtor off paying his debts.
