94. Revenue Surveys.

Surveys were made for lease plans for 166 lots covering 88 acres, and for surrender plans for portions of 118 lots. 126 lots covering 230 acres were set out and 728 Boundary Stones were placed to demarcate 132 lots.

95. Revision. 312 acres at 1/600 scale and 24 acres at 1/1200 scale were surveyed involving 30 miles of detail traverse. 45 survey sheets at 1/600 scale and 44 survey sheets at 1/1200 scale were opened.

96. Contour Surveys & Levelling. Contour surveys at a variety of scales and vertical intervals covering a total area of 112 acres were completed for planning purposes, 10,000 feet of direct levelling was run.

The annual computation of mean sea level was made and recorded as 3.97 feet above Principal Datum, Hong Kong.

Of the original 507 Bench Marks established through the Colony in 1929-34, 167 have been destroyed. Some of these were destroyed before the war, the majority during the war. It was not possible to replace any during the year.

97. Miscellaneous. The following miscellaneous work was carried out:

(a) For road widening and rebuilding schemes 7,500 feet of road alignment was set out.

(b) 16,900 feet of Building lines for 65 lots were checked.

(c) Surveys covering a total of 30 acres were made for 16 police cases.

(d) 16 areas covering 44 acres were surveyed for various purposes.

(e) 35 survey sheets opened in the immediate post-war period on poor quality unmounted drawing paper, all that was available were redrawn.

(f) 46 special tracings and diagrams were prepared.
