54. King George V Memorial Park, Kowloon. Plans for the restoration of this playground at the corner of Canton Road and Jordan Road providing facilities similar to those in the Hong Kong Park were prepared.

55. Reprovisioning of Government House Gardens, Pokfulam. A new site for Government House Nursery Gardens, which are at present at Sookunpoo, and will have to be moved to make way for the new Sookunpoo Stadium, was found at Pokfulam. Construction of gardener's quarters etc. was commenced in March.

Marine Department.

56. Marine Licensing Station--Tai O. This scheme was referred to in last year's report and was completed in June.

Hong Kong Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.

57. The plans for the New Headquarters of the Hong Kong Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve on the site between the Missions to Seamen and the China Fleet Club were approved. The accommodation consists of Headquarters for the H.K.R.N.V.R. with drill hall, lecture rooms, store rooms, canteens and wardroom. The building has also been designed to provide accommodation and club room for the Civil Aid Services, Auxiliary Medical Services, Essential Services Corps, Director of Manpower, and Police Auxiliaries. Working drawings were nearing completion by the end of the year.

Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force.

58. Huts for H.K.A.A.F. at Kai Tak. To provide extra servicing facilities for H.K.A.A.F. aircraft, five sectional huts together with roads, paths, oil stores and services were constructed to house instrument repair shop and stores; offices, restrooms and washrooms; electrical and armament shop; engine repair shop and airframe workshop and stores. The construction of the huts enabled the existing hangar to be cleared and altered to take additional aircraft. Work was commenced early in January and was almost complete at the end of the year.
