Perfect Racer."

According to a New York journal, a well-known American yachtsman, whose name has not been revealed, has made an offer to Sir Thomas Lipton to purchase Shamrock V.

It is stated that the prospective buyer, who la a well-known financier, intends to race Shamrock this season if the offer is Recepted.

"I am certain that Shamrock V is the best of the yachta which raced for the America's Cup in 1930," he is stated to have said. "She has the finest racing hull I have ever seen, and it is a crime that such a perfect racing machine should have been ruined by the stupidity of those responsible for her rigging. The necilessly heavy mast was quite sufficient to ruin. her. chances, but bad was made worse by attaching an] Inefficient mainsail.

"With competent rigging and proper handling, I am sure she would have beaten any of the yachts built for the races last year."
