Rugby, Saturday. The newest and largest liner of the Canadian Pacific Company, the Empress of Britain, concluded a auccessful maiden voyage when she arrived at Southampton yesterday from Canada. The land to land journey in each direction occupied exactly 18 hours 22 minutes, and the average speed, both out and home, worked out at 23.67 knots. At no time were her engines opened out full.

TO NORWAY. IN A DAY.
The fastest motor liner in the world sailed on her maiden voyage from Newcastle to Bergen, Norway, on May 9. This new ship, the Venus, which has a displacement of 7,000 tons, will be the largest and meat luxurious vessel engaged in the Continental service. In every way she is the equal of the long- distance, ocean-going liner.
Her entry into the England and Norway service will bring the two countries within a 20-hour .voyage of each other, and should do much to stimulate the already consider- able. Summer tourist traffic.
Cruises have made the fjorda of Norway the most favoured of sea- playgrounde during the Summer months.
