capable, the arrangement is not antisfactory. They no sooner get to know their work than they have to go back to their military duties, and we have had three Service men since September.

We also thank H.M.S. Medway Band for playing at our other im- promptu dances.

We thank too, all the kind people of the Colony who have regularly helped our Committee in making our Christmas and Welcome dances a success by sending us Home-made refreshments and we also thank the ladies who turn up to our dances.

Appeal for Magazines, This last year, (owing to the low rato of the dollar) our magazine bill cost us $400. This bill will not be incurred this year as we have had voluntary donations of a num- ber of magazines. If anyone cares to send us any magazine we shall be most grateful. Even duplicates are useful, as magazines are put in the main room as well as in the library. Kindly address to Mrs. R. Lindsell, Cheero' Club, who has kindly taken over from Mrs. Beavis, who is shortly going home.

This is an increase in one month of $1.158.44, or 111 per cent., and although there have been in-1 creases in our charges these do not amount to as much as 20 per cent,

These figures are real proof of the great increase in the use of the Club, and since the success of such an organisation as ours, is gauged by the number of men who attend, it is obvious that the past year has; been a successful one.

Mra, Lew! Splendid Work. It is only right that I should.ex-' press our great appreciation of the interest and hard work that Mrs. Lewis. your president, has put in throughout the year. Only those who have been constantly in touch with the various activities know the time and thought she has given to the Club. (Applause).

To-day I would welcome your new President, Mrs. Bellamy, and trust have the opportunity of thanking that under her guidance the pro- mittee for all their splendid co- you all, on behalf of myself and the sparity of the Club may continue operation during this last year, and Committee of Management of and 1951 be an equally successful I am certain they will carry on "Cheero" for the vast amount of year.
