Sir W. W. Hornell Vico- Chancellor of the University, and most of the professors of the various Faculties. The music was provided by the Lyric Dance Or- chestra, and a novelty was added to the function with a spot waltz. The Central Committee of the Russinn Communist Party unanim lously endorsed M. Kulbychef's re- port on the progress accomplished Lay My Head Beneath a Rose during the first two years of the five years' plan and the proportion of the whole plan to be accomplish. ed in 1930.
Up to December 1 this year- twenty-four per cent, of agricul tural land throughout Russian ter- ritory had been "socialised," and in the leading grain regions the prabortion attained forty-nine per cent. During the past year 8.8 Imilliard kilowatt hours of electria power were produced, which next year. is to be brought up to 12,7 A special effort will be made to in tensify house building, which this, year absorbed 32 million roubles and next year is earmarked for 1.1 milliard roubles.
Altogether it is reckoned that at the present rate of progress, by the end of 131 there will have been reached seventy-nine per cent, of the programme laid down in the total five years' plan so far as agri culture is concerned, and ninety eight per cent. so far as industry is concerned. The
report estim. ates that, based on the results al ready accomplished, the five years' plan will have been fully realised in four years in agriculture, and in little over three years in indus. try.
