Protection For Women And Children,

There was a very full attendance at the second weekly tilin of Hong Kong Rotary Club, held at Lane, Crawford's, yesterday, The principal speaker was Mr. Bascom Johnson, Chairman of the League of Nations Commission of Enquiry into the Traffle in Women and Children in the East. Other members of the Commission present were Dr. Alma Sundquist, (Sweden), Mr. and Mrs. Pindor, (Poland), and Mr. von Schmieden (Germany). .

Sir W. Hornell's Honour,

The Hon. Mr. W. E. L. Shenton, in welcoming members and visitors, said it gave him particular pleasure to express the very great appreciation of himself and fellow Rotarians on the very high honour recently conferred upon the President (Sir W. W. Hornell) by His Majesty the King. (Applause). He then proceeded to give a brief sketch of Sir W. W. Hornellis carcer, referring in passing to his splendid work for education both in India and us a member of the Board of Education in Britain.

WORK FOR UNIVERSITY.

Since 1924, when he left India, after his second period of service there, the President had been Vice- Chancellor of the local University, and had been a great driving force there, completely re-organising the methods, and bringing the institu- tion to the high standard it had attained to-day. (Applause).

Sir Williami Hornell had identi- fed himself with every phase of life in Hong Kong, and might well be thought of as the spirit of Rotarianism personified. "I may Bay that

if Sir William Hornell to describe himself." Mr. were Shenton concluded, "he would be quite in order in using those three Latin worda, Veni, Vidl, Vich" (Applause),
